[wtp-releng] What to do with component.xml files?

I've just noticed many projects (still) have these old component.xml files in them.

They are no longer needed, right? Just for that old API checker we used to use? (years ago)

I've opened bug 297124 to remove these.

No rush ... not hurting anything ... but, I don't think we should leave old stuff around if no longer needed.

And, thought I'd post here, in case they are still needed! And someone can correct me.
