Hi David,
The overall intention is to distribute as few dependencies as possible with Titan; one reason for this is that Titan is being used on a high number of platforms
(approx. fifteen to twenty Linux and Solaris variants, different Cygwin versions etc.) each with slightly different dependencies e.g. a library might be present on Linux but might need to be compiled from source on Solaris etc.
Another reason is that some dependencies are invoked only occasionally ; sqlite is a good example, it is only used when database functions are needed.
From sqlite, the developer libraries are used which will be compiled together into Titan. On major Linux platform sqlite can be installed via commands; on every
platform a different version will probably be installed.

Again, not sure why this wouldn't be reviewed and included with distribution (of tests)? I know it's common ... but, I think typically is "embedded" in other apps, and not
really available for other apps to use.
