I wish there was more info on that breaking API changes that are mentioned on the plan. What we use is probably pretty basic but I would not like to blindly include 4.0

I don't know more details about the plan that what was described in https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/technology.jgit/releases/4.0.0/plan . It's meant to be the release that gets in Mars.
