Hopefully no double post, since I got a refusion mail for technology-pmc on the last attempt.
I completely understand the feedback, as the aspect of transparency is important here and the issue, since we kind of expected such feedback, has already been discussed in advance in the project
team. In the case of Markus Lehmann, the situation is indeed somewhat special, as his documented activities are not visible directly in the EDC repository, but within the environment of the Catena-X project. The contributions mentioned (concepts, diagrams,
workshop results) were thereby transferred by other people, which in retrospect was a mistake with regard to this discussion.
As Catena-X being a lighthouse project for the use of the EDC, one can see the high benefit from Markus' work in the daily project life, but of course not from the perspective of the EF, the PMC
and prospective contributors.
My suggestion would be to (further) actively involve Markus in the work and discussions of the EDC committers and to make sure to document his contributions more transparently in the future. With
visible contributions, we will again start the election.

Betreff: Re: [dataspaceconnector-dev] [technology-pmc] Committer Election for Dr. Markus Lehmann on Eclipse Dataspace Connector has started
Elections serve, in part, as a transparent demonstration to prospective contributors of what the project team considers to be sufficient merit to join. It also serves as a transparent demonstration that the
candidate has demonstrated that they understand the project well enough to take on the responsibility of being a committer.
To that end, please be as specific as possible when you're describing merit.
AFAICT, this candidate has not signed the ECA and has made no contributions to the project via Git, nor do I see any contributions via issues or pull requests on any project repositories.
Is there any public record of the contributions that you've cited in the nomination statement?
A committer election for Dr. Markus Lehmann on project Eclipse Dataspace
Connector (technology.dataspaceconnector) was started by Markus Spiekermann
with this criteria:
Markus Lehmann (https://projects.eclipse.org/user/16559) took over
responsibility for sovereign data transfer within the Catena-X project and
thereby contributing with acknowledgeable input for the EDC project and
alignment of project goals and roadmap with user requirements and operation.
He has addressed, moderated and contributed in the following areas over a
significant time:
- Concept design and documentation of process flow for data transfer, data
flow and backend integration
- Requirement Engineering, feature and story definition for ControlPlane
- Requirement Engineering, feature and story definition for
DataManagement-API
- Moderation and orchestration of usage control and policy management task
force
- Contribution to AAS extension and corresponding demo design
- SSI/IAM requirements analysis for EDC
During the last month he has also coordinated implementation activities by
other contributors as team lead and supports reaching the goals of milestones
and planned deliverables.
For these reasons and the long-term outlook for his beneficial involvement on
the team, it is my pleasure to nominate Markus Lehmann as a committer on
Eclipse Dataspace Connector
