(moving this discussion to epp-dev)
Carsten,
AERI is part of EPP. It seems that there is no active committers. It also seems that we don't have the source code of the server technology. Are you still seeing the issues?
Note, I did not get a reply from Marcel and Andreas. It looks like AERI is dysfunctional. If the problems persist and cannot be fixed in time we may need to think about pulling it from the packages.

Marcel/Andreas, can you help the PMC providing answers to these questions?
- What is the state of AERI, i.e. is it actively being developed or considered maintenance mode? - Do you still have time and interest in fixing bugs and issues? - Who is supporting the server? - Where can I find the source code of the server (if it's running at Eclipse.org)?
It looks like it isn't here:

Hi all, is anyone else seeing tons of duplicates on AERI in the last days? I’m not sure how many of you use it actively, and how many use the automatic Bugzilla creation. But since yesterday, it’s flooding MPC’s Bugzilla with duplicates of the same handful of issues (which aren’t “real” issues but log entries for network issues, and already marked as such in their respective original AERI problem reports). I’ve disabled automatic bug creation for now and will begin cleaning up, but was wondering if other projects are affected as well.
