Greetings folks.
I'm actually a little surprised by how few Technology projects have
active CVS repositories. Here's the list:
- Accessibility Tools Framework
- Babel
- Dash, Tools for Committers and members
- Commits Dashboard
- Eclipse Process Framework Project
- Phoenix Project
- Tigerstripe
- Voice Tools Project
- The Eclipse Examples Project
- Remus
You can see information like this (and more) using the Projects
Status page [1].
As the project lead for Dash and Commits Dashboard (Dash
subproject), I'll take the lead on that. I think that there may be
some functionality to retire in there. In fact, I'm not entirely
convinced that Dash is an appropriate Eclipse project, but I'll
leave that as a problem to solve later.
I've been talking with Denis about the Phoenix project. We're in the
process of converting Eclipse Foundation-managed website properties
to Git. Phoenix will move along as part of this. In fact, Phoenix
might actually just go away as it hasn't been operating like a
proper project for a long time. I'll discuss this with the rest of
the team.
I'm also a little sour on the Examples project. It's completely
dead. I may move the examples that I've added to GitHub or
EclipseLabs and just shut down the project. I'm not sure about what
we should with the the Toast example. It was intended to showcase
Eclipse runtime technology, but I believe that it's woefully out of
date. Perhaps the threat of project death will shake up some
interest.
I have created a Technology Project Cull 2012 page on the wiki [2].
That leaves:
- Accessibility Tools
Framework
- Babel
- Eclipse Process Framework Project
- Tigerstripe
- Voice Tools
Project
- Remus
Of this list, only Remus seems to be inactive (and only for the last
six months).
I'll contact each of these projects to make sure that Git migration
is on their radar.
Thanks,
Wayne
