Re: [technology-pmc] [CQ 3392] lttng Version: all
|
I keep forgetting this step...
Technology PMC, do you have any issue with the Linux Tools project using
lttng as an "exempt pre-req"?
According to the policies for 3rd party dependencies [1],
A pre-req may be classified as "exempt" by the EMO if the software
is pervasive in
nature, expected to be already on the user's machine, and/or an IP
review would be
either impossible, impractical, or inadvisable. Exempt pre-req's can
be approved for use
by the EMO without IP review. Examples: Windows XP, Sun JRE.
However, an exempt
pre-req may be disallowed by the EMO at its discretion.
Linux Tools already has a few CQs exempt, given that the sorts of folks
that would use the technology tend to have the pre-req tools installed,
or can easily get them.

IP Team, let's move forward with this as an exempt pre-req. Thanks.
Has the discussion happened on PMC mailing list yet Wayne? If it hasn't or
isn't closed off, then we can leave this CQ in "awaiting PMC" state until that
happens.
Otherwise, once that discussion is resolved, please "return" this CQ to the IP
team along with the link where it took place so we can forward it to EMO for
review.
Thanks!
