Re: [technology-pmc] Project mentors and the Eclipse IP Policy
|
Hello PMC members,
We (IAM project leads) actively communicate with our developers
regarding IP and also periodically review the code check-ins.
An example is [1], where we share the references to the IP documents
(including the committer guidelines), and also [2] (bug opened by
Wayne Beaton in response to our question [3]) where an inconsistency
on IP documentation was detected.
Thanks to those reviews, we have reacted to the confusion by one of
the committers in a timely way and the issue was brought to the
attention of the committer and the EMO IP Team.
The issue was addressed in a few minutes by the committer and I have
personally talked to him to make sure that he understands the IP
process and the situation would not be repeated.
What I want to make clear is that the IAM project takes Eclipse IP
process very seriously.
That said, I'll ask our mentors to brief the team in the IP process
and allow the team to ask additional questions they might have.

Greetings IAM developers.
I have heard from EMO that there is apparently some recent confusion
wrt the Eclipse IP policy and procedures.
Your project proposal lists three mentors:
* Ed Merks, IBM
* Thomas Watson, IBM
* Brett Porter, Exist Global
Can you please make a point of scheduling some time with one or more
of your mentors to review the Eclipse IP policy and procedures?
In the meantime, please review the Eclipse Legal Process Poster [1]
and Eclipse Policy and Procedures for Third Party Dependencies [2].
All Eclipse committers should be familiar with these documents.
If you have any questions, or if there is some problem communicating
with your mentors, please let me know and I'll do what I can to help.
Thanks,
Wayne
