Yes, OSM data data are usable for "real world" network. I am looking for a solution for my road network.
 

Yes. But maybe the street-sign-output isn't even the best option for this (it's rarely used and not under active development).
You could also try to import signs directly from OSM https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:traffic_sign

Wouldn't it be possible to generate more traffic signs? For example, marking a one-way street.

At the moment, no. Since the signs are just uniformly colored POIs at, the angle takes no effect anyway (if we're talking about --street-sign-output).

when i generate traffic signs by the netconvert, they all have a angle attribute "0". Is there a way to assign the correct rotation?
