Re: [sumo-user] Modeling a cable car/gondola system
|
Hi Griffin,
I would model the cabins as a railway or tramway with a loop (and
no level crossings) and two stations. For railways you need some
dummy signals to get the right headway.
Derive a vehicle class which can hold 10 persons and a fixed
schedule. With some buffer time you should be able to have a
constant flow of gondolas.
You can also use two separate tracks with a schedule like in this
tutorial https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Tutorials/PublicTransport.html
What do you want to simulate?
- The overall performance of such a system?
- The queuing at the stations?
- the intermodal usage of walk, buses, gondolas etc.?
@Mirko: Thanks for the link to the proceedings 2017!
Regards, Harald
Hi
Griffin,
I
can't remember any study focusing on cable cars in SUMO. Some
work which may have something in common was this one: "Personal Rapid Transit simulations
with SUMO" (p. 102). There is no dedicated vehicle class for cable cars
either.
Best
regards
Mirko

Hi sumo users,
I'm currently in the process of developing an urban cable
car/gondola system in a Sumo simulation using existing
functionalities. This concept is based on the
existing urban cable car system
found in La Paz. Before I get too deep into the
development, I was curious if anyone else has attempted to
do this, or if there is any documentation that might be
helpful.
Thanks as always,
