[sirius-dev] Status update for Sirius 0.9
|
Hi all,
Here are some informations about the upcoming Sirius 0.9.0 release,
which will be our first official Eclipse release.
In terms of "paperwork", everything is on track:
* The release record is complete [1] included the approved IP Log (we
are in a simple case with no external contributions and no new
dependencies since the initial submission).
* The Modeling PMC gave us their +1 [2] (with a little help from Wayne).
* The release review is scheduled to end on 2013-12-04 (next Wednesday) [1].
* The planned release date is 2013-12-10 [3], a little later than the
end of November we targeted first.
From my understanding of the process [4] we now just have to wait for
the successful ending of the review to be able to release Sirius 0.9.0.
You can watch [5] to follow this.
In terms of code now, we're approaching a releasable state but there is
still some work to do. As a reminder, the scope of Sirius 0.9.0 is to be
as close as possible to the latest release of Viewpoint (6.10) with
"just" the rebranding, and support for automatic migration of models
(*.odesign and *.aird) created with Viewpoint 6.8 and later into the
Sirius namespace. There *are* a few changes outside of this scope (e.g.
[6]) but they will be clearly mentioned in the release notes.
What remains to do:
* Finish the work on the automatic migration [7]. It is commited, but
would need a little more testing on practical cases. You're welcome to
try the latest nightly on your existing models and give us feedback on
the bugzilla.
* Ensure we correctly follow all the rules specific to projects in
incubation and more generally make a pass on the branding [8].
* Create a branch for v0.9.x with the corresponding Hudson jobs (note
that we do not plan maintenance releases on this branch except for
critical bugs or issues with the automatic migration from Viewpoint to
Sirius).
* Write the release notes, N&N, compatibility notes, etc.
* Promote the final build and announce its availability to the community.
As soon as we are done with all this (by the middle of next week seems
realistic) we'll build the final version, test it and put it aside until
the planned release date so that we can focus on 1.0M4 (which is on
2013-12-20).
If you have questions, remarks, or if you see something I missed, you
can use [9] to discuss.
Regards,
Pierre-Charles David
