Re: [science-iwg] EclipseCon NA 2015 Deadline Extended!

Everyone,
To be clear, we will still have full length talks, but if you want a short talk then just say you want the science symposium when you submit.

I have a proposal in. Please vote for it.

Jay, all
I don't think it matters as long as the PC is aware. So just mention it in the proposal if you are submitting. I guess the foundation would like to have a category, but we'll sort that out later.
If you think you're going to ECNA and your're interested in the Science Working Group, this is your chance. Get your ideas out and propose a short talk for the Science Symposium!
https://www.eclipsecon.org/na2016/cfpTorkild,
I think you should just mention it in the proposal, although I can ask about the category if you want.

Aha. In the Swedish system, the abbrevation is "CM" (Ceremonimestare). Should have guessed :-) I'm still in.
Do we get a category to file these talks in, or should one just mention "science symposium" in the proposal?
Torkild,
It means 'master of ceremonies.' :) Glad you like idea!

A "Science Symposium" is a great idea! If I remember correctly the Modeling Symposium usually takes up two slots, so that's about 60 minutes of 10-15 minute talks - excluding a 10 minute break in between. Four to six talks that is. Anyone can talk about something interesting for ten minutes - so please file your proposals!
I'd love to help out, even though I'm still trying to figure out what "emcee" is an acronym for :-) as a side note I'm also trying to figure out how to correctly fit the other part of the kitchen I'm refurbishing. Sometimes I regret not becoming a carpenter.

Torkild,
What would you think about being the emcee for a kind of "Science Symposium" session similar to the Modeling Symposium talks? We could then get a few people speaking in that session with little lightning talks.
+1 for any beer from Stone!
Jay
