- PMD 7, which adds support to Java 21 is not released yet. It's a release candidate at this moment.
Thank you for your input. An important thing to perhaps realize here is that Jakarta REST 4.0 is not released yet either. It doesn't even have a release candidate at this moment, just a milestone.
It will be some time before Jersey, RESTEasy and all the other implementations implement it. Jersey for instance hasn't even started yet at the moment. I understand some people look at "21" and see a scary number, but by the time implementations have been released,
and have moved past their initial release (remember, nobody ever uses a 1.0 in production), that "21" will not look as scary anymore. JDK 23 will have been released at that point, and JDK 24 will be just around the corner.
It will be very likely that by then things like PMD have long implemented JDK 21 support.
