Hi,
I am not sure that a wiki can help, it is quite
complicated to explain ergonomic questions and I am not sure that a
students version is a good solution.
Another software like sparx architect is also used
during some teachs and is more usable ...
I chose topcased because it was a software used in
companies and was not used only for academic purpose. It is important to train
students on tools that they will use in professional life or tools they could
promote in professional context. This is why for me starUML should is not a so
goo choice for teaching.
It is espacially true for students who are part
time in school, part time in company. They have to learn industrial tools
otherwise they could not be well-respected by theirs managers or professional
colleagues.
Maybe a way to adress this question is to compare
Papyrus UI with well known tools UI like Sparx, or IBM Rational Architect or
Modelio or ...

Hi Sébastien,
That would be a very good idea to have a student
dedicated version with a simplified GUI as we have had issues with many
UML tools which are too expressive and sophisticated for short
courses.

Papyrus is still not perfect, but its
development team works hard at improving it!
Moreover, PolarSys 0.8M1 is still embedding
Kepler and Papyrus 0.10.x.
If you want to test the cutting edge version of
the tool, download the latest milestone of Eclipse Modeling Tools at https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php
and install Papyrus (Help/Install Modeling Components). PolarSys IDE
will soon switch to Luna anyway.
Please also consider reporting bugs or
enhancement requests (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=MDT.Papyrus&component=Core&rep_platform=All&op_sys=All).
It would help developers to fill the gaps.

Am I the only one who complains about papyrus
editors ? They are really painfull to use.
To students who discover UML found Topcased
complex but Papyrus is a real nightmare ....

version of Papyrus:
0.10.1 UML 2, Papyrus and the "UML Generators"
proposal are Eclipse projects. It makes sense to have cohesion in
