Hello,
We are currently working with the Orbit
repository for our Eclipse RCP based projects, and we would
like to move to the last version of Apache Commons Collections
package. Following their API page, the last one is :
Version 4.2
But in the last orbit package (here), the version provided is a
bit older. We have tried to join directly the man identified
as contact for this package on the Orbit page (David
Williams), but without success (the mail associated seems
dead).
Better the email address that the person! :)
But, even knowing the current email address won't help as I am no
longer a good contact for any of the (old) packages my name is next
to.
In fact, my guess is there are LOTS of packages with contacts that
are no longer valid.
Roland, and other Orbiteers, I am wondering if the whole column of
"Orbit Contact"
should be removed and an few sentences added above that table to say
"contact mailto:orbit-dev@xxxxxxxxxxx if questions".
Is there a place where we can ask for an
update? (or help to do it by the way).
You found it! Well, as far as I know.
I'd suggest a few things to make progress.
Open a bug requesting an update, naming the versions, giving URLs,
etc.
Perhaps more difficult ... are you currently an Eclipse committer?
On any project? (Sorry if I should know and just don't recognize
your name).
If not -- and I am not sure of the exact current policy -- that
might be problematic since in the past Orbit was primarily for
Eclipse Foundation projects, not "the general public" since it was
feared that would be too much work.
If 'Yes', then typically that project submits the CQ to use the
updated library.
I'm sure Roland and others will have more specific advice, but
wanted to comment since I think the "Orbit Contact" list has long
been a broken concept.
Thanks,
