RE: [orbit-dev] Invitation: Orbit Conference Call (Jul 24 10:00 AMEDT)
|
Thanks for the additional information, Martin. We have received a few
comments about the new system and we would like to test it out internally
before using it for the Orbit calls so for next week's call let's use the
old call-in information. Once we ensure things are running smoothly here
with Asterisk we will make the switch.

Hello,
here is some more information about the upcoming Asterisk
conference:
1.) Be REALLY sure to install Idefisk 1.37 and NOT 2.0 --
2.0 was reported to badly mess up a WIndows installation.
In Idefisk, right-click > General Options >
Disable Check for Updates.
2.) In the Idefisk softphone, right click on the background and
select "Filter Options". Switch ON at least "Noise Reduction"
and "Send CN frames when silence detected" to improve
call quality for all participants.
3.) In the Idefisk softphone, there is a slider for the microphone
gain level (left-hand side). While talking at the conference,
all participants should drag that slider left until the gain meter
does no longer go to maximum -- for us that was at about 1/3
on the left hand side of the slider. Not doing that results in
bad distortion of everythign you say.
Let's se how it goes on Tuesday.
Cheers,

FYI,
when we tried the Asterisk conferencing for our project, we found out that
some company firewalls block port 4569 UDP which is required for the
Asterisk VoIP to work.
Anybody who wants to join the conference next week should try out
Asterisk early enough to verify that the connection works:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Asterisk_Conference_Calls
Be sure to get the OLD idefisk-1.37 client or it will always fail.
If you can connect to the test server but you do not hear anything,
it is likely that your company firewall blocks port 4569 UDP.
Cheers,
