[m2e-dev] How to can a repository?

Because checkstyle does not live in a p2 repo, I have a p2 repo
checked in. Recently, my build started complaining as follows:

[WARNING] Could not transfer metadata
com.basistech.m2e-code-quality:m2e-code-quality-plugins:0.12.0-SNAPSHOT/maven-metadata.xml
from/to cs (file:/${basedir}/checkstyle-p2-repository): No connector
available to access repository cs
(file:/${basedir}/checkstyle-p2-repository) of type p2 using the
available factories WagonRepositoryConnectorFactory
