You can implement your own version of the Registration/ClientStore so you can use whatever you want as storage.

 

Is there any work going on to store the device registry in an external database model from the  scaling/HA point of view.

The leshan server cluster implement a Redis based storage:

Also some interest in a mongodb based storage was expressed previously.

Don't hesitate if you want to contribute another kind of storage provider.
