Re: [jdt-dev] Helping Developers understand and document Eclipse JDT
|
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for raising those questions, please find the answers below.
-- "When an Open Source developer uses Architexa to generate such diagrams,
are those diagrams tied to any license or can I redistribute them under my
desired license (e.g. EPL)? "
Quick answer, yes you can redistribute the diagrams under any desired licence.
Actually, we had not thought about this question and are trying to figure it out. We want the creator of the diagram be its owner and decide how he wants to publish it.
-- "Can the generated diagrams be included in the Eclipse doc or must they reside on
codemaps.org?"
For now we have added "one-click sharing" inside the Eclipse IDE to easily upload diagrams to Codemaps and then they can be embedded anywhere you want. We look forward to hear your suggestions and would like to support any way to directly upload diagrams to the Eclipse doc.
-- "What exactly do you mean by "wanted to start rolling it out with JDT"? Do you mean start documenting JDT on
codemaps.org or something different? "
We are right now trying to focus on a few projects(JDT being one of them) and want to make them really happy. We have started documenting some important concepts already and wanted to hear the thoughts from the community to make thee more helpful.
We are not diagram fanatics but do believe that diagrams are helpful in many situations. Our tool improved productivity when used inside the Eclipse IDE and helps the community when the knowledge is shared. If you haven't yet, please check out the short video (
http://www.architexa.com/learn-more/videos/intro/video)
I hope these were helpful and will be glad to answer any other queries you might have.
Thanks,
Abhishek

you mean start documenting JDT on codemaps.org or something different?
