And perhaps the job could be updated to drop '-RELEASE' from tag to
create tag similar to existing ones (1.7.2, 1.7.3, 1.7.4, 2.0.0,
2.0.0-RC1).

On the other hand - as branch is short-lived by design - it might be
suffixed, to be like existing ones (
1.7.3-RELEASE Updated 3 years ago by jca-bot
2.0.0-RC1-RELEASE Updated 2 years ago by jca-bot).

Just for consistency.
