I do not understand why such an essential information as the release date is not discussed in this public form before publishing it on the eclipse page? This is something all committers should discuss, and it is not so urgent that the discussion must happen intra-day using Slack.
Actually I do not see why we cannot release a bit earlier. It would be good to have a nearly feature-complete beta within August to be able to get feedback before the actual release process is triggered (and BTW I will do two talks at JFS and EclipseCon in September where our adience expects us to show something "nearly finished"). The final release can officially be on October 31, but I think a stable RC should be published September 30 already.
What are the arguments against that?
