Hi Arjan,
AFAIK only a few people call it Jakarta REST. Most people still refer to the spec as JAX-RS. Which is fine in my view. As Markus pointed out several times, JAX-RS is not a trademark, and there is no legal reason or requirement for changing the acronym. So why confuse people even more by doing so?
Also, JAX-RS is shorter than "Jakarta REST". And omitting "Jakarta" would be really confusing, as REST refers to the architectural pattern AND to a corresponding spec.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm also in favor of keeping the current spec name.
Just wondering, but why?
Almost all Jakarta specs are 2 words; Jakarta [single word]. People already abbreviate it to Jakarta REST as the full is just too long for people to remember or type all the time.
Why not make official what people already use?
Additionally, what about the names in the projects, CI, GitHub etc? At some point we should rename them. Eg ee4j.jaxrs. ee4j.restfull.web.services is a little long.
Kind regards,
Arjan
I actually cannot remember that we officially voted on that, and in fact my vote would be -1.

Is "Jakarta REST" supposed to be short for the full name "Jakarta RESTful Web Services"? Or will there be a push to rename to "Jakarta REST"?
There was a vote / interest gauge last year about using the name Jakarta REST as the official name. If it's okay, I'll start the push to officially have this renamed to Jakarta REST. It's indeed what most everyone has been using anyway.
+1
