Can you clarify, what is an Influencer member, and
what is a Participant member, and in particular how it's decided
who is an Influencer and who is a Participant? In the Eclipse
membership levels, I see 5 different types of membership -
Strategic, Enterprise, Solutions, Participant and Committer - do
these levels at all relate to the Influencer or Participant
membership? I can't find any public documentation on this, I can
find a definition of what Influencer and Participant members
are:
The missing document that defines these terms is the Jakarta EE
charter:
https://www.eclipse.org/org/workinggroups/jakarta_ee_charter.php
At the moment there are no Influencer Members. All participants are
either Strategic, Participant or Committer.
But I can't see anything saying how someone or a company
becomes either a Influencer or a Participant member - there's
instructions for general "membership", but not specific to
these levels. And I can see on that page that my company
(Lightbend) is a Participant member, but the only membership
level that I recall when we went through the process of
joining Eclipse was Solutions member, I don't recall anything
ever being said about being a participant member. What makes
us a participant member? Who decided that? And who are the
influencer members?
When you sent the email saying you were joining the working group,
you became a Participant Member based on your Solutions Membership
in the EF. Sorry this was not made clearer.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
