[iot-wg] Proposal for a new IoT project – "Haystack" – A time series dat

Hello IoT,

I would like to suggest a new project in the IoT area of Eclipse and
would like to get some feedback from the IoT working group first, before
officially starting the whole process.

We prepared a proposal document as Google Docs document [1] which can be
read and commented without a Google account.

In short terms: For Eclipse SCADA we made a Time Series database (like
OpenTSDB, Kairos DB) which can store analog values in a Hadoop/HBase
cluster. The intention is to not only provide the main implementation,
but also things around the interfaces (e.g. A OpenTSDB compatible data
feeder, a Haystack compatible data provider for Eclipse SCADA). However
the core of the project is the time series database.
