There is a metatype service bundle for 4.2. Which distribution are you using? In the meantime, you may find the bundle here: http://download.eclipse.org/equinox/drops/R-3.8-201206081400/download.php?dropFile=org.eclipse.equinox.metatype_1.2.0.v20120522-1841.jar.

Looking at the Eclipse 4.2 distro, I don't see any implementation of the MetaTypeService anymore. In 3.x there used to be a equinox.metatype bundle that would register this service.

I couldn't find any information about this on the Equinox web pages, so does anybody know what happened to it?
