[epp-dev] long file path problem / Windows

Hi EPP developers,

we've found a severe problem [1] that could lead to problems in many Windows packages. It looks like Tycho generates some extremely long file names in features from Code Recommenders and Linuxtools. Together with their path they are too long to be extracted on Windows machines with their known limitation of about 260 characters. The error messages appear when you try to extract a package, even if you try to extract it directly in C:\

Has anyone any idea what to do against this? I think we need to come up with an idea very soon, before (!) we ship the packages next week. One quick fix could be to simply strip the longest of these files from packages...
