[ecf-dev] ECF 3.5.1 release built
|
Hi Folks,
Last night I completed the ECF 3.5.1 release build and made it available
to the platform team for incorporation into p2/Equinox/Eclipse [1].
Once the next platform version is produced (RC2 I think), I will update
our contribution to Indigo to use ECF 3.5.1, and once that's done I will
change the ECF download page (to point to 3.5.1 rather than 3.5 as it is
now).
Congrats to the ECF team and community.
What is in 3.5.1?
ECF 3.5.1 has lots of bug fixes...thanks to the community for finding,
reporting, and in some cases fixing those bugs. That teamwork (along
with some patience :) is what makes it possible for ECF to move forward
and address community needs without being controlled by a commercial
venture.
Particularly noteworthy are the fixes associated with the Remote Service
Admin standard implementation. Since ECF 3.5' release, Markus and I
have been running the ECF RSA impl against the OSGi RSA Test
Compatibility Kit...in order to verify that ECF's RSA implementation
complies fully with the standard. A number of bugs in the
implementation were found and fixed, and as of now there are no known
(to me!) compatibility bugs.
Further, it now seems possible that the Eclipse Foundation will help us
with getting OSGI certification (there is currently an OSGi fee
associated with actual certification, which we do not currently have the
means to pay). See this thread on the rt-pmc mailing list [2] as this
is just being discussed right now (i.e. announced today/this morning).
Of course, there's lots more to do...we particularly need to continue to
enhance our documentation via the ECF documentation project [3]. Please
join this documentation project bug [3], and continue to contribute in
any way you can (via wiki pages, other documentation, examples, tests,
blogging, bug reporting, code contributions, etc).
Thanks,
Scott
