+1 and I am going to submit my changes. Doug said he would take care of the 
cdt.core staff.

But we still have to decide on what to do with the asynchronous viewers. 
Here is the excerpt from Darin Wright's message:

Currently, the viewers are not provisional API. We have found the viewer
implementation to be the most volatile piece of the flexible 
hierarchy/asynchronous interactions.
