milestones
What about CDT 3.0 (i.e., the next major
release)? When would discussions on functionality and timeframe
begin? From Intel’s perspective, the 2.x Managed Build system
doesn’t meet our product requirements, so we are interested in working on
that functionality as soon as possible, and having it released as soon as
possible.

milestones
to follow-up to Kleo's email -- we'd like
to get feedback from people on what would be appropriate timing and scope
for the 2.0.1 and 2.1 releases.
In speaking informally with Kleo and
Thomas and looking at what was left off for CDT 2.0, I looks like the main
focus
in the next few months will be on:
1. bugfixing, stability and scalability,
especially with handling large projects
2. finish the Eclipse 3/CDT debugger
integration and fully adjust to the new 3.0 debug framework
3. Finish the hierarchy view in the
class browser perspective
With respect to timing, if we follow the Eclipse
timelines, we would be aiming for a 2.0.1 release near end of August.
This might work well as a maintenance
release with no major changes or new features (e.g. the focus would be on #1
above). We could target 2.1 for October
and tackle #1, #2 and #3, and whatever other scope is appropriate.
What do people think? Would this meet the
requirements of IBM, QNX and others?

Subject: [cdt-dev] Post 2.0
milestones
Hi all,
I have
requested that additional milestones get added to the CDT in bugzilla, and they
have just been created. There is now a 2.0.1 and a 2.1 target milestone to
choose from. I know we haven't had any concrete discussions yet as to when the
2.0.1 or 2.1 delivery dates will be, but with these milestones we can start to
distinguish between bugs to be fixed sometime in the near future and those that
will be fixed whenever...
My intention
is to provide a target milestone (2.0.1) for defects that we want to fix on the
2.0 stream after it goes GA at the end of the month, and another (2.1) for the
next release that comes out of the Head stream after 2.0 reaches GA.
Questions,
comments, concerns, let me know...
