Re: [atf-dev] JavaScript Editor/Development Tool Proposal

Can others contribute "guidelines" about behaviors they feel a good _javascript_ editor might follow?

JSEclipse.
We have had one conversion and traded
e-mail with the a member of the team that wrote JSEclipse. We are at the
stage where JSEclipse has to decided to contribute their code to eclipse.
The ATF team has been told not to download or look at JSEclipse.
Since we are going to do something similar, we don't want to get into contamination
issues with doing our own _javascript_ editor, If or when they decide to
contribute the code to eclipse, we can then do an assessment of the code.
Aptana
The ATF team had some initial discussion
with the Aptana team about working with the Eclipse ATF project. At the
time they didn't want to get involved with the Eclipse Open Source process.
The ATF team is again not allowed to download or look at Aptana, since
we are doing something similar. Aptana would have to contribute their code
before the team would be able to look at it.
If either JSEclipse or Aptana does contribute
their code, then the ATF team can do an assessment (functionality, effort,
time to market, etc) to decide whether to use either editor or continue
with our proposed plan.
Just a little more on the issue on the
ATF team being contaminated by looking at JSEclipse or Aptana. Along with
being able to put it our own editor on eclipse, the companies who integrate
ATF into their products, also have to feel the code is free of legal issues.
