Re: [asciidoc-wg] Setup of Working Group Web Site / initial repo set up
|
Hi Dan,
thanks for showing your interest in the working group's website.
Earlier this week I've broken down the things-to-do to issues in
the repo: https://github.com/EclipseFdn/asciidoc.eclipse.org/issues
- I've added the content of this email to existing tasks or new
tasks. There's now also a Milestone "M1" to mark essential content
before going live.
It would be great help if the steering group and the community at
large would engage in it. This could range from adding content to
the repo's issues by commenting, or preparing pull requests to the
repo.
Looking at the tasks ahead, I can see the essential content of
the site to be ready on April 6th and can commit to that.
Publishing the site will take place once the essential content is
in place and will involve the Eclipse's web master team. I assume
this can be done some time next week, I'll check with Chris.
Having said that, I can't commit (and actually doubt) that the
site will be live on April 6th.
I read that you want to postpone the meeting planned for April
6th if the site site is not ready. This comes as a surprise to
me... wouldn't it be sufficient to have the content in the repo
and the preview site, but not yet live?
Best regards,
Alexander

Alexander,
Thank you for getting the repository for the AsciiDoc
Working Group website set up. Now let's keep this momentum
going. I'd like to see the website available at
asciidoc-wg.eclipse.org by the
next Steering Comittee meeting (April 6, 2021). In fact, I'd
say this is so important that we can defer the meeting if
it's not ready by then. We absolutely need to have a website
online in some form in order to proceed.
The site doesn't have to be perfect. Without it, we have
nowhere to point people who are interested in this group, so
something is better than nothing. With that said, we at
least need the following pieces of information on the site:
* A description of the group for the hero section (this
can be taken from the charter)
* A complete list of Steering Committee members (Partner
Members and individual committers with a seat on the
committee)
* A list of approved meeting minutes (or a link to a
folder that contains them)
We can improve the site iteratively once it's available.
If there is anything the members of the Steering
Committee or community-at-large can do to help, please don't
hesitate to ask. The more specific you are about what you
need, the better.
Best Regards,
-Dan
