Re: Fw: [wtp-releng] Weekly WTP Smoke Test Requests -- timing for 2.0 I-build?

David,

My feeling is that Thursday is not the day to be making such drastic changes.  Prerequisites and subsequent required changes should really be made earlier in the week.  If we never stick to our proposed schedules, we'll never reach a build rhythm.  We owe it to our adopters to have a well tested and quality build each Friday.  I don't think slamming in these changes last minute and getting mediocre tests achieves that goal.  We can just as easily declare an I build today and then focus on the new base tommorrow to get a jump start on next week.

That being said, if you feel confident that you can have a build ready tonight and that the risks are low for regressions, we can make an exception.

Should we have a "late" I-build this week? I'd like to continue to investigate moving up to "nearM5" platform,
but then our build would not be ready ... if at all ... until Friday morning.

Bleeding edge users are obviously moving up
and finding things that we should be finding ourselves.

Any advice? Other opinions? desires? needs?

Thanks,

WTP 1.5.3

The build tonight will be our latest Release Candidate and teams should continue testing.  There is no need to rerun a smoke test if you already have had enough coverage on your release testing and verification clean up.  BUT, please do update the smoke test results page with your status at http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/WTP_Smoke_Test_Results_R15 so we can have a good picture of how the testing went and the current build readiness for declaration.

WTP 2.0

Looks like there is a JSF compile error in the latest build. but stay tuned for the most recent driver tommorrow to smoke test as our weekly WTP 2.0 I Build.  Update the 2.0 smoke results at http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/WTP_Smoke_Test_Results_R20
