Re: [wtp-pmc] [wtp-dev] Wrong linking in WTP Project Plan page
|
Hi Matt,
Because of some unfortunate history
on the setup of this project, the committer tools on portal or project
management tools are not available. Actually Carl, myself and Victor
are not currently "committers" on this project, and I suspect
I have permissions because I'm PMC of the project.
To move forward, we can have the PMC
members vote to have all current sub project leads and PMC members become
"committers" on the toplevel project.
The current state is here: https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/webtools/who
Please let us know how to proceed
Thanks - Chuck

Wrong linking in WTP Project Plan page
Hi Carl,
There is no mechanism to allow a committer elected(or 'promoted'
to PL) on one project to be automatically granted committership on another
project. As such the solutions are either Victor is elected to webtools
or we can create a JSDT specific website repo.
Note that a JSDT specific website repo can be located so that it's final
URL is www.eclipse.org/webtools/jsdt
or it can reside at www.eclipe.org/jsdt
and the Webtools website can simply redirect www.eclipse.org/webtools/jsdt
to www.eclipse.org/jsdt

Matt,
Why isn't Victor part of the 'webtools' group? The last I knew, the
'webtools' group consisted of the Project Leads and PMC members of WTP.
Victor was just made the JSDT project's lead. As such, he should
be in the 'webtools' group. Is the update of the 'webtools' group
done manually, such that every time we change a project lead, we need to
specifically request this?

Hi Carl,
The issue here is that the Git repo for the Webtools website is owned
by the group 'webtools' , and Victor isn't part of that group. There
are a couple of options:
1) Victor is elected to the Webtools project
2) We can add a JSDT specific website repo.

Victor,
This is an Eclipse.org infrastructure issue- you should have been given
the correct permissions to update the project plan when you became the
JSDT Project Lead. I am including a couple of people that should
be able to help resolve the issue. (But, like me, they may have a
lot of mail in their inbox from a break before New Year's.)

Yet another question is how can I push my changes to the project plan?
Nitin in https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=451395#c5
has
suggested me to use
pushurl =
ssh://{mylogin}@git.eclipse.org/gitroot/www.eclipse.org/webtools.git
but unfortunately it didn't work for me when I tried to push an updated
project plan to
ssh://vrubezhny@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/gitroot/www.eclipse.org/webtools.git
and
failed with:
remote: error: insufficient permission for adding an object to
repository database ./objects
remote: fatal: failed to write object
error: unpack failed: unpack-objects abnormal exit
Looks like I have no write permission here.
What is the project I should use to create an issue attached with a
patch that contains my changes to the plan? (I mean
standard-project-plans/mars/jsdt-plan.xml)
Or I should file an issue regarding my permissions?
Thanks in advance,
Victor Rubezhny
