[wtp-pmc] J2EE DTD/Schema licensing

Talked to Janet today about the possible licensing methods for J2EE DTDs and Schemas.

 

• IBM licensing (see Bugzilla 104086) as a mechanism has been rejected by IBM legal.
• Sun licensing (via java.sun.com website) is not possible as long as Sun maintains the redistribution prohibition in the files (which overrides the licensing terms for the website in general).

 

W.r.t. the latter: I will forward a question to Sun asking whether the restrictive language is intentional or accidental; there’s a very small chance that if it’s accidental we could still get permission to redist for 1.5, but at this point we should assume the probability is low.
