[eclipse.org-technology-leads] Another small file to create on your        project website

Dear Project Lead,
As part of the Phoenix release (Phoenix being the new website architecture and look and feel), the Projects page and the Technology page are becoming database-driven and distributed-maintenance. What this means for you is that you can control what is said about your project - you no longer have to ask Susan or Denis or myself to change the project description.

All you have to do is create a small HTML file in the root of your project website named "project-page-paragraph.html".  For example, here is one I created about the Technology Project:

<p><b><a href=""     The Eclipse Technology Project (Incubators)</a></b> - new channels for open source developers, researchers, academics and educators to participate in the on-going evolution of Eclipse.
Organized in three streams: Research, Incubators and Education.</p>

And here is a sample I created for ALF:

<p><b><a href="" Lifecycle Management</a></b> <br/>
An Application Lifecycle is the continuum of activities required to
support an enterprise application from its initial inception through
its deployment and system optimization.
</p><p>
The goal of the ALF project is to solve this integration problem
by introducing a central negotiator that manages interactions
between applications. This service-oriented event manager
provides a very useful uncoupling function. Using an intermediate
communication format prevents having to integrate an application
several times with several other applications, and simply carries
out one integration on the central node. The central node then
carries out communication with other applications through
orchestration of their corresponding web services.
</p>

The
Project page has default paragraphs that I typed in, but if you create your own it will automatically replace the defaults. Please try to keep the project descriptions short and useful.

The
Technology page has no defaults and thus just lists the sub-project names. If you want more than the name, you'll have to create the project-page-paragraph.html file.

Let me know if you have any trouble or any questions,
Bjorn
