RE: [wtp-jsf-dev] Looking For WTP Users Help
|
I'm trying to go through the J2EE tutorial at
http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/jst/components/j2ee/scenarios/jee5_applicati
on_creation_tutorial.html
The first step is to create an Enterprise Application Project. I was able
to do that with the Eclipse 3.2.2 setup I had, but had other problems.
Thanks,
Shelli

It sounds like you have the right stuff installed and running.
Can you elaborate a little on what specific type of project you are trying
to create? If I go File > New > Project... > J2EE, I see "Application Client
Project", "Connector Project", "Enterprise Application Project", and
"Utility Project".
I'm guessing that when you say, "J2EE Application Project", you are
ultimately looking to create an EAR, which would equate to creating an
"Enterprise Application Project" (at least for starters).

Hi,
Thanks. If you can indulge me, I'm having issues getting the plugins to
register (I think). I've installed Eclipse 3.3 M5 and downloaded/unpacked
the following plugin files:
dtp-sdk_1.5M5.zip
emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-2.3.0M5.zip
GEF-SDK-3.3M5.zip
wtp-S-2.0M5-200702230758.zip
wtp-jpa-S-2.0M5-200702230758.zip
wtp-jsf-S-2.0M5-200702230758.zip
When I look at my "About Eclipse SDK", there are icons for "Eclipse Java
Development Tools SDK" and "JavaServer Faces Tools". The "JavaServer Faces
Tools" has the following features listed:
J2EE Standard Tools (JST)
Java Persisitence API Tools
JavaServer Faces Tooling
Web Standard Tools (WST)
However, when I try to create a new J2EE application project, J2EE is not an
option for application types. I have restarted Eclipse with the -clean
option. Other than unpacking the plugins, is there some other setup that
needs to be done?

As written in the test case you need WTP 2.0 M5, which depends on
Eclipse 3.3 M5.
This functionality is brand new and you need the latest milestone.
You can download from here:
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R2.0/S-2.0M5-200702
230758/
There is list there of the required eclipse project that you have to
download as well.

First thing is Eclipse 3.2.2 does not supprt Java EE5. So cant develop
any java EE 5 project.

the <None> entry. When I click on the "New" button, a list of servers
is
displayed (grouped by vendor). None of these are named "Java EE 5
Server"
as in the screen capture in the tutorial. So, I chose Basic/J2EE
Runtime
Library.

my
list of versions to choose from is 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. It doesn't have
5.0.
I have jdk1.5.0_11 installed on my system and set up as an installed JRE
in
eclipse.
