Re: [ve-dev] Fw: [Bug 37683] [plan item] Address platform-specific UI performance problems
|
I got through reading the PR (phew quite a long one), and added myself
to the CC list. I'll run some of my own benchmarks on RHEL 3 with both
GCJ compiled, and with the IBM Java SDK for comparison. The problem with
that PR is there are over 50 different comments, and everyone is running
benchmarks without a commonality of hardware or software to compare
from.
Running Eclipse itself on Linux is fine; I really don't notice any real
performance problems. When I use the VE, I do notice performance issues
associated with the visual elements (IE dragging controls onto the
bean), but the VE is already scheduled for some tuning/performance
tweaking across platforms? I vaguely remember this from either an email,
or the conference call.
Anyway, thanks for the heads-up. It is certainly a PR to keep an eye on.
