Thanks for reporting Silvia,

I tried the udig 1.4 snapshot and got a problem importing tif or ecw in the Catalog.
If you use drag and drop in the Catalog or in the Map View, uDig seems to not to recognize these formats, the data will be correctly imported if you use the complete Import wizard from the Catalog Icon: Import -> Data -> Files -> ...

This sounds like one still coming from the wizards added by the Lisa guys back then?
Hmmm, we should check back some version.

That might also include the fact that it is no longer possible to drag some files directly into the layer view, they get added to the catalog, but not to the map. Therefore adding a layer below another seems to be impossible in one step.

I will open a JIRA for this,
