So I have not heard back how testing went? Last we checked walkthrough 1 was okay ...

Trying walkthrough 2 myself:
- needed to update my version of geoserver to get the correct test - and that went fine
- was unable to correctly create temporary layers (https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/UDIG-1649)

So that is a downcheck; help needed.
