The NLS messages concern translations strings; and will effect the user interface but otherwise should not cause a trouble.
It looks like you are running udig with one of the net.refractions.udig.tutorials.code.examples included; and it looks like one of the entries in the plugin xml there is invalid :-(
If you go through the workbooks on the website it will show you how to uncheck all the tutorial plugins when you run (as well as all the tests). Please do so now and you should be able to run.
