[udig-devel] Raster files that used to work in uDig 1.1

I have received a painstakingly created bug report (in the form of an excel spreadsheet) concerning the in ability of uDig 1.2 to load images that "used to work" in previous releases. I think this was something that was also found during the recent code sprint?
I have packaged this up as a nice Jira here:
The report is mostly focused on GeoTIFF files; and contains links to example images that illustrate the problem or problems.
My initial impression is that uDig 1.2 is working for RGB images; and failing due to lack of a good default RasterSymbolizer definition for anything else (ie grayscale). However I must stress that this has just been a quick look on my part - as such discussion/investigation is still needed.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please reply to this thread. In particular I would like to know if anyone has shown a non RGB image; and if so what SLD was used - this can help us figure out a good sensible default.
