[udig-devel] How to open .map extension files using udig or any other OS

Hi,

I am new to udig. We have been using Manifold and as we are shifting at a much larger level we are looking for alternatives, which could help us out and are within our budget constraints. 

We have stores of .map extension files developed using Manifold. How can we use the same using udig? Is there any other Open Source software which could help us out?
