Carsteen,

ArcGIS Server 9.2 create the "task" concept for
communicating with it. If MOLE is operating in the
server you should be able to create custom tasks that
use the MOLE extension.  

The tasks framework communicates using XML. ArcGIS
comes with an Eclipse plugin that allows you to create
new custom tasks.  Since uDig runs on Eclipse you
could be able to create code that does the talking to
botrh sides.

I suppose you can create your custom tasks using the
ArcGIS plugin and then create custom tools to access
them in uDig.
