Thanks Adrian and Jesse,

I was using uDIG 1.1.0 RC8 and wound back to a stable release (1.0.6).

That is disappointing; the poor raster support was the reason for the change?

It works OK now (for adding JPEG or GeoTIFF images), but seems to have a real problem rendering vectors (lines or polys) over the top.

This may be because there is no PRJ file associated with either the SHP or JPG/TIF images.

Is there any estimate for when ECW “may” be available ?

There will probably not be any improvement in raster support for uDig 1.1; the version of GeoTools 2.2 we are using has not maintained its raster support.

For uDig 1.1.1 we will switch to GeoTools 2.3; the geotools community is adding additional raster formats on the stable branch (so no API change; just more formats). One such "format" that would allow you to work with ECW would be a bridge to GDAL.

Jody

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Shaun
