Hi udiggers,

we have some questions about the way to work with geometry fields in the distinct uDig resources.

I'm referring specifically to shapefiles import. Its seems that automatically uDig converts the name of any geometry attribute to "the_geom" and placing it in the first position of the schema (FeatureType). This is a little problem for us because if you try to export the shape, after making some modifications for example, the resulting schema is distinct to the original.

Could "the_geom" customized being defined in a properties file or is there any speciall reasons to named it in this way?
