Re: [udig-devel] holongate vs. SWT_AWT bridge

In case anyone's interested, here's a link to the bug filed for lack of SWT_AWT on the Mac:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=67384

In addition, the GTK and Motif version of this bug has been marked as resolved and can be found at:

Yes, and note that the 1.5 JDK will probably be Tiger-only (Apple has long since releasing updates for Jaguar (10.2) which is what I have on my iBook). So basically only people who have done an OS/X upgrade or bought a new machine will be able to use it.

Well, just something to consider. Apple has recently seeded the Java
1.5 beta DP (developer preview) for the OS X Tiger beta. This seems
to follow what Jody says with a guesstimated release data of March
'05, along with Tiger.
A google for ' java 1.5 "os x" ' shows a couple hacks people have
done to get some 1.5 functionality in OS X and Apple does have a
couple newer versions of JDK 1.4.2 available as developer previews.
Besides the fact that either of those options may not solve the
problem, that's also a hefty prerequisite for running uDig.

So Jesse does this leave us with the holongate native bliting as
our only option (or even worse a nested for loop). I don't really
want to start writing to the Eclipse image directly.
Well I just checked Holongate's website and they don't have a Mac Native blitting. They support win32, GTK and Motif natively. And
then they have a platform independent version. So that leaves
us...
With a continuing dilemma.
I'm going to think on this some more.
