I set my Java to java 8 and get
> java -version
> java version "1.8.0_11"
> Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_11-b12)
> Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.11-b03, mixed mode)
Adding export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/jdk-8-oracle-x64/ did not change anything 
neither.

Also in my master pom.xml I have

Also mvn --version reports a Java 8
