Thanks Bernd,
I’m not happy
with hiding the book via help_data.xml since theoretically
one of our customers might want to extend our product and
develop against Trace Compass after all.
They would then
install add-ons and expect the docs to be there … but they
would keep hidden.
Should I file a
bugzilla ER for putting the doc.dev into its own feature ?
Thanks,
Martin

Hi
Martin
It's a good point. We haven't though about that.
I don't know how you deploy Trace Compass to your users but
it's possible it add an XML filter file and add it to a
plugin_customization.ini file. In the XML file you can define
a filter to hide unwanted help docs.
The Trace Compass RCP actually does that to hide platform
docs. See plug-in org.eclipse.tracecompass.rcp.branding. You
could create your own help_data.xml to hide the developer
guide for your internal builds.
One side node, in the chapter "Defining an XML state provider"
of the user guide the guide actually references the developer
guide about the state system. However, it has a link to the
Trace Compass doc on the wiki at eclipse.org. So you should be
fine.

Hi Tracecompass
Committers,
I’ve noticed
that the
org.eclipse.tracecompass.tmf/feature.xml
includes
a reference to
org.eclipse.tracecompass.doc.dev
I
find it odd that our end users of tracing also receive the
developer docs.
Shouldn’t
the developer docs live in it’s own feature ?
We
don’t really want to ship the developer docs to our end
users; but
as
a TraceCompass adopter, I see no easy way getting rid of
the docs
unless
they are in a feature of its own.
Thanks,
