Re: [threadx-dev] [EXTERNAL] Re: threadx for functional safety applications

Hi Giuseppe.

We are currently awaiting the official transfer of the certifications for the ThreadX 6.1 series from Microsoft to us by SGS–TÜV Saar. In parallel, we are making the appropriate changes to the certification artefacts, including the safety manual. Once both these things are done, our members will get access to the certification package.

The next step after that will be to certify the recent 6.4 release. Unfortunately, we do not have a timeframe for that, but we intend to move forward as soon as possible.

To access the documentation, you will need an Eclipse Foundation membership and a membership in the appropriate working group. We should soon be able to share a preview of the safety documentation with interested parties. I can send you membership information in a separate email if you are interested.

Given the demand level, we plan to offer non-members access to the documents through a dedicated program. We expect the new program to launch during Q2 2024. Naturally, we must be cautious since we need appropriate legal agreements before offering the transaction.

I hope this helps. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions.

Hi,

I'm not able to download the certificate (there's something wrong on the website.... I've already written to TUV to ask for this).

About Threadx Safety Manual.... is it available somewhere?

This would be very usefull for the certification process.

Thanks,

Hi Giuseppe,

You can look up the existing certifications and corresponding version number by searching for “Microsoft” on the TÜV website (note that these are in the process of being transitioned to the Eclipse Foundation):

https://sgs-tuev-saar.com/en/trainings-certifications/certifications/certificate-database/products-processes

In a nutshell, the current safety certification status per Eclipse ThreadX component is this:

Component

Version

ThreadX

6.1.1

ThreadX SMP

6.1.3

GUIX

6.1.7

NetX Duo

6.1.9

USBX

6.1.11

  • IEC 61508 SIL4 – functional safety standard applicable to all industries
  • IEC 62304 SW Class C – Medical devices
  • ISO 26262 ASIL D – Automotive applications
  • EN 50128 SIL4 – Railway applications
  • UL/IEC 60730-1 Class B – Household electrical devices
  • UL/IEC 60335-1 Class B – Home Appliance

Thanks,

Stefan

Some people who received this message don't often get email from threadx-dev@xxxxxxxxxxx. Learn why this is important

Good morning,

I'm Giuseppe Assalve and I work for an italian company operating in the area of electronics design and production.

We're developing new ECUs  industrial applications and we have to reach a safety level SIL3 (IEC 61508) / PLD (ISO ISO 13849).

At the moment we're using a commercial OS but, when we discovered ThreadX, we decided to try it.

The problem is that I'm not able to find specific documentation about safety relevant functionalities of the OS nor the TUV certificate.

Is it possible to have some material about these points? Is there a link to download the TUV certificate?

Thank you very much

Regards
