Hi guys,
Just a few words from the MP project lead...
Some people were mixing the project structure and other project politics with some of these recent committer nominations. I called them on it. And, we had a very good discussion on our weekly hangout this past Tuesday. As you might have seen, some of these people did end up changing or adding to their nomination comments to indicate other reasons for their abstains.
We also discussed other means of pre-discussing proposed committers before they are put up for a vote. As Wayne knows, many of us also work on Apache projects and we're very used to having a private channel to discuss proposed committers before putting them up for a public vote. I explained how that's not the "Eclipse way", but we still want something like this. We're exploring some possible means of performing these pre-vote committer discussions. If we find something that works for us, we will report back our results.
I'll also point out that I am okay with the veto(s) that occurred on the recent votes. It's fine to put this back in our court and figure out a process that works for us. As Wayne knows, the MicroProfile project consists of several components. In many cases, the activity on one of these components may not be as visible to the rest of the project membership. Not that anything is being done in a non-public way. It's just a matter of people being extremely busy and not always knowing everything that is happening in the wider project.
Thanks,
Kevin
